Amigurumi Bee Free Crochet Pattern
The free amigurumi pattern for this little kawaii bee was first published on my old blog all the way back in July 2013. It was also in the August 2014 issue of Australian Homespun Magazine - the very first time one of my crochet patterns appeared in print!
In this updated amigurumi bee tutorial, the crochet pattern is still the same, but all the photos are new (and improved!). The first version can still be found on my old blog. You can also get a printable pdf version in my store. Your purchase helps me continue making cute amigurumi patterns!

Amigurumi Bee Free Pattern
This quick and easy amigurumi bee is made from back to front, with colour changes for the stripes. The little face is sewn on using round black beads and cotton thread. Finish off your bee by sewing the tiny crocheted wings in place. The whole project will take about an hour, or less if you're familiar with crochet.
These mini amigurumi bees make cute little gifts or decorations, and you can sew a keychain on top to make them functional too!

Size:
Using medium (worsted) weight yarn and a 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook, your bee will be about 5 cm (2 in) long. However, exact gauge isn't important, and you can easily adjust the size by using thicker or thinner yarn.
You will need:
• Medium (worsted) weight yarn in black - about 10 m (11 yds)
• Medium (worsted) weight yarn in yellow - about 10 m (11 yds)
• Medium (worsted) weight yarn in white - about 1 m (1 yd)
• 6 mm round black beads for eyes
• Black sewing thread
• Toy stuffing
• 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook
• Sewing needle
• Yarn needle
Abbreviations (US crochet terms):
R - round(s)
st - stitch
sts - stitches
sc - single crochet
sc2tog - single crochet 2 together
Pattern
Body:
Work in the round, without joining rounds.
Using black yarn, start with an adjustable ring.
R1: 6 sc in the ring.
R2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
Change to yellow yarn.
R3: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 6 times. (18 sts)
R4: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts) 6 times. (24 sts)
R5: Sc in each st around. (24 sts)
Change to black yarn.
R6-9: Sc in each st around, for 4 rounds. (24 sts per round)
Change to yellow yarn.
R10-11: Sc in each st around, for 2 rounds. (24 sts per round)
R12: (sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts) 6 times. (18 sts)
R13: (sc2tog, sc in next st) 6 times. (12 sts)
Stuff the body, making it nice and puffy.
R14: (sc2tog) 6 times. (6sts)
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing, and finish off. Add a little more stuffing if needed, then sew the hole closed.
Wings (make 2):
Using white yarn, start with an adjustable ring.
R1: 6 sc in the ring.
Don't join the round. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing, and finish off.
Finishing:
Use black thread to sew the eye beads onto your bee's face, roughly in line with round 12 of the body. With black thread, sew a tiny mouth in between the eyes.
Sew the wings on top of your bee, right in the middle of the black stripe, about 2 stitches apart.
Your little bee is now complete!
