This past week I made a cute amigurumi chicken from Lalylala's 4 Seasons Easter pattern collection. Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to make all 3 creatures in time for Easter; I'm quickly learning that's what happens when your schedule is dictated by a tiny human!
Here is my little amigurumi chick, Chuck:
The pattern calls for sport weight cotton yarn, but I used worsted weight wool and a 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook to make a slightly bigger toy. Chuck is about 12 cm (4.7 in) tall. I also embroidered the eyes with black yarn so they're more suitable for baby, and added a rattle insert inside.
The colourful feathers on the back are my favourite part.
I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes worsted yarn to make this little crocheted chicken. Here's a list of my colour substitutions:
(A) orange - Golden Heather
(B) sand - Almond
(C) off-white - Cloud
(D) yellow - Semolina
(E) light turquoise - Wonderland Heather
(F) turquoise - Fjord Heather
(G) dark turquoise - Calypso Heather
If you want to crochet your own amigurumi chicken, the pattern is available from Lalylala on Etsy or Ravelry.
I'll be working on the other 2 Easter animals next. Chuck seems puzzled by the husk of his future bunny friend.
