I've been making these dainty crochet snowflakes all winter, and finally had some time to post the pattern. I know it's a little late in the season, but my 3 year old makes us leave the Christmas tree up until her birthday in late January anyway. So if you're shamelessly clinging to the last bits of winter (like me), it's time to make some snowflakes!
Mini Snowflake Free Crochet Pattern
This quick little snowflake pattern only takes about 15 minutes to make!
Difficulty: Easy to intermediate
Using no. 10 crochet thread and a 2 mm crochet hook, your snowflake will be about 4 cm (1.6 in) wide. However, exact gauge isn't important, and you can easily adjust the size by using thicker or thinner yarn.
You will need:
• No. 10 crochet thread in any colour - about 5 m (5 yds)
• 2 mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
Abbreviations (US crochet terms):
R - round(s)
Ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
Start with an adjustable ring.
R1: (Sc in the ring, ch 4) 6 times. Join round with a sl st in the first sc. Ch 1.
R2: (2 sc, ch 4, 2 sc) in the next ch 4 space. Repeat 5 more times. Join round with a sl st in the first sc. Ch 1.
R3: (2 sc, ch 3, sc, ch 5, sc, ch 3, 2 sc, ch 2) in the next ch 4 space. Repeat 5 more times. Join round with a sl st in the first sc.
Cut yarn and finish off. Sew in the ends.
You can sew a loop on top and use them as decorations, string them together as a garland, or even turn them into dainty little earrings.
