Knitted Baby Socks
I've been knitting tiny socks for some tiny feet (that have been kicking me in the ribs every night for the last few weeks).
The pattern is Garter Stripe Baby Socks by Jennifer Hoel, available as a free Ravelry download.
Short rows are used to shape the heel and toe of the socks. The pattern is quite quick and easy to follow if you're already familiar with sock knitting. For my socks, I left off the garter 'seam' at the back, and finished off with a Kitchener stitch instead of the 3-needle bind-off recommended in the pattern.
I used size 0 (2 mm) knitting needles, with Willow Yarns Gosling Fingering yarn in colours Backyard (green), Buttercream (yellowish), and Peach Fizz (orange). Each sock used only a tiny bit of yarn.
Baby socks are so small! Although this pattern only comes in newborn size, I'm planning to make some more using slightly thicker yarn when my sprout gets too big for these.
